In the initial stage, students are introduced to the shapes of the hijaiyah letters, their correct pronunciation, and their exit points (makharijul huruf). This approach ensures students have a strong foundation before moving on to reading sequences of words and verses.
This material discusses basic tajwid laws, such as mad, qalqalah, ghunnah, and idgham. By understanding recitation from the start, students will get used to reading the Al-Qur'an according to good and correct reading standards.
Participants will practice reciting short chapters from Juz 'Amma to improve consistency. The exercises are conducted in stages, starting with simple pronunciation and progressing to more fluent reading with tartil.
At this stage, students are encouraged to develop fluency in reading by paying attention to length, shortness of breath, and basic rhythm. This helps them recite the Quran more beautifully while still adhering to the rules of tajweed.
Apart from the technical aspects, this study also emphasizes the importance of etiquette in reading the Koran, such as maintaining ablution, a solemn attitude, and understanding the meaning of reading as a form of worship. Thus, reading the Koran is not just a skill, but also a way to get closer to Allah.
